Aditya Pachpande has received a letter from CSRI saying that the sanitiser box can be recommended for sterilisation purpose.
Pune: A 14-year-old from Chinchwad has Elon Musk as his role model, and wants to do a number of things. Aditya Pachpande, a ninth standard student of Indus International School, designed a Suraksha kit, which has received a patent for its application of UV-C rays in protecting against the coronavirus.
The boy has now received a letter from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research- Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, saying that the product, a sanitiser box, can be recommended for sterilisation purpose.
Aditya said that the box solves one of the biggest problems that households have to tackle- of disinfecting vegetables. He told The Indian Express, “This idea came up during the pandemic, as to how to sterilise vegetables. I did my own research using aluminium and how it can be used in a controlled environment, using potassium permanganate and exposing to sunlight and eventually came up with the sanitiser box.”
He plans to make a thousand more such boxes and distribute them to the poor and the needy, once the evaluation report from CSIR- CMERI comes.
