For over a century Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company has been manufacturing pipe and fittings exclusively in the USA, employing 1,400 loyal, hard-working Americans. Today we manufacture the industry's broadest range of standard and specialty DWV products, including cast iron and plastic pipe and fittings.

Charlotte Pipe is headquartered in Charlotte, NC, and has seven plant locations across the United States.

This position will help automate the exchange of electronic business information between CPF and Trading Partners (customers, financial entities, Rep agencies and Rep warehouses). The role will help maintain EDI software to support communication channels and develop business processes to interface with the SAP-ERP system. The position will also be responsible for enhancing and supporting SAP configuration and ABAP user exit code related to data integration. The API role of the job will be to work closely with experienced developers to design, develop, and implement APIs for our software applications. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology, strong problem-solving skills, and a desire to contribute to innovative projects.

Functions and Responsibilities

EDI Role and Function

• Monitoring and troubleshooting of EDI transmissions throughout the day
• SAP monitoring of workflow errors for IDOCs and backup for EDI Data Analyst
• Trading Partner Setup – including SAP configuration, Sterling Integrator (SI) configuration, and EDI mapping according to trading partner specifications.
• SI Business Processes – Create new programs and enhance existing programs as per business requirements.
• ABAP code changes in user-exits required for inbound and outbound IDOCs.
• Technical systems support & maintenance for EDI application SI application, including DBA support for related SQL Server 2019 database.
• Data Archiving – Backup EDI inbound/outbound flat files to an external storage
• Maintain and support Windows Services for VMI interface to SAP.
• LCP testing/resolve upgrade conflicts for EDI interface.
• EDI Disaster Recovery plan and documentation
• Create and maintain EDI technical system support documentation.
• Technical Resource for users - researching and troubleshooting EDI issues and analytical support.
• Provide training to a variety of business areas regarding information or functions pertinent to their responsibility.

API Role and Function

• Assist in the design, development, and implementation of APIs to enable communication between customers (internal and external) software systems and components.
• Support, Monitor, and Secure API Platform and API usage.
• Collaborate with senior developers and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and contribute to API design discussions.
• Conduct testing of APIs to identify and address any issues or bugs.
• Assist in creating and maintaining documentation for APIs, including API specifications, usage guides, and code comments.
• Provide support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve API-related issues.
• Learn and stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in API development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Basic understanding of programming concepts and experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
• Familiarity with RESTful API design principles is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and willingness to learn from experienced developers.
• Detail Focused.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of EDI standards, mapping, and business requirements.
• Understanding of database concepts and design.
• Working knowledge of SQL Server.
• Basic understand of various data formats such xml, json.
• Experience with API development projects or coursework.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of basic web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• SAP SD EDI Configuration a plus.
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux is a plus.
